OUR EXPERIENCE

Challenge: Large System Migration
A large telecommunications company had the project mission to implement an integrated back-office infrastructure for information, processes and systems that would enable the organization to manage the post-billing life cycle of all integrated or migrated customer financial transactions. They implemented SAP’s high volume Revenue Management Contract Accounting (RM-CA) and CRM system applications.

The client established certain guiding principles for this project to follow:

  • Modify processes where possible to use SAP functionality “off the shelf” and maintain a highly configured financial platform.
  • Leverage the integration of SAP’s modules combined with the two-tier customer structure to enable SAP to drive processes based on the entire financial relationship they have with their customer.
  • Operationally integrate to a single standard process wherever possible to manage customer credit, customer collections, customer dispute resolution, customer account adjustment, and customer remittance.
  • Consolidate and migrate to a single Accounts Receivable sub-ledger.

Approach: Data Quality Leaders
Armada was enlisted to be the Quality Results Reporting and Analysis team focused on mining the existing legacy data for data quality issues. The primary objectives of this team were to monitor, analyze and report on customer information identifying potential data integrity, process compliance, or control issues, prior to migrating legacy data to the SAP platform. Other objectives of this team included the development of executive performance reporting for measuring operational results, and analysis of the quantitative and qualitative benefits of the project. Armada achieved these results through the following processes:

Data Quality Analysis

  • Analyzed legacy systems for Data Integrity or Migration issues and made recommendations while supporting corrective actions, when requested, Armada implemented reccomendations
  • Developed compliance and exception reporting; reviewed and communicated any issues with business owners
  • Evaluated legacy and SAP data architecture and interfaces for potential reconciliation issues in the adjustment process
  • Supported Audit in evaluating the quality and integrity of controls implemented

Executive Performance Reporting & Analysis

  • Defined and prepared management reporting
  • Provided detailed analysis for management inquiries into SAP Financial Metrics
  • Continuously monitored and evaluated data quality and control issues

Results: Clean Qualified Data
Armada successfully migrated two legacy billing systems containing nearly $600 million in receivables and over
100,000 customer accounts to SAP. The project insured only quality information was migrated in the appropriate timing with minimal customer impacts and limited data quality defects.
